Gênero, sexualidade e sofrimento psíquico: tensões entre heteronormatividade e saúde mental no discurso dos profissionais do CAPS II de Vitória da Conquista - BA

Abstract

Considering that there may be specificities in the experience of psychological suffering due to sexual orientations and gender identities, intertwined by social determinants that produce subjective effects on the mental health of the LGBT population, the purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the issues of gender, sexuality and psychological suffering through the discourse of mental health professionals. It was a qualitative and exploratory research with eight professionals from different job functions and specialties of the Center of Psychosocial Attention II (CAPS II) in the city of Vitória da Conquista - BA. As a reference for analysis, the orientation of the Pêcheuxtian Discourse Analysis was used, since it is able to investigate the process of production of meanings and subjects, considering subjective and historical elements discursively materialized, not individualizing the issues approached in the research. As it is a research in the Professional Master's Degree modality, a second interventional stage was proposed, in which a moment of professional formation took place with the entire service team with a dialogic intervention in which contents related to the meanings and mental health specifics of the LGBT community identified during the analysis. From this, gender binarism was identified as a recurring discursive formation, in addition to issues related to prejudice and discrimination, as well as the use of the social name. It is discussed in this study that the analyzed discourses refer to two ideological formations: heteronormativity and the mental health discourse as discursive regions that coexist and that, at times, are tensioned with regard to gender identities, sexual orientations and the mental health work with this public. Finally, it is understood that professional training for mental health care for the LGBT population is an essential strategy to qualify health care, which is materialized through respect for the use of the social name, the acknowledgement of gender identities and sexual orientations, and the decrease of situations of prejudice and discrimination in the psychosocial health care center.
