Abstract: This study investigated the experiences of Black female graduates and single mothers from the School of Administration at UFBA (Federal University of Bahia), seeking to understand how they reconcile single motherhood with the demands of university life. The research, qualitative and descriptive in nature, used a field study with a purposive sample of single mothers who are heads of household. The study analyzed how gender, race, and single motherhood intersect with these women's academic journey, the coping strategies employed, and the gaps in institutional support policies. The results reveal experiences marked by physical and emotional overload, aggravated by the absence of a regular support network and the difficulty in accessing institutional services. Most reported a decline in academic performance after motherhood and moderate to high difficulty in balancing studies and childcare. Situations of prejudice and invisibility also appear as part of daily university life. Coping strategies vary from managing demands alone, resorting to family members when possible, and reorganizing study routines. A widespread lack of awareness regarding institutional policies was identified, including the Academic Guidance Center (NOA) and the Academic and Professional Support Center for Students (NAAPE), as well as low access to aid and a predominantly neutral or insufficient perception of institutional support. It is concluded that single motherhood at the university is permeated by structural inequalities that affect academic progress, highlighting the need for more accessible, continuous, and sensitive institutional actions to address this reality.

Abstract: This undergraduate thesis analyzes how emotional management contributes to the
performance of professionals and interns in Executive Secretariat roles in mediating conflicts
within organizational environments. Recognizing that workplace relationships involve
complex interactions, multiple demands, and tense situations, this study sought to understand
how socioemotional competencies—such as self-control, empathy, active listening, and
assertive communication—affect conflict management and the quality of institutional
relationships. This applied research, adopting a mixed-methods approach, used exploratory
and descriptive procedures through an electronic questionnaire administered to 22 participants
working in the field across public, private, and third-sector organizations in Salvador, Bahia.
Data analysis, conducted using content analysis techniques, enabled the identification of
perceptions, practices, and challenges related to emotional regulation in professional daily
routines. The results suggest that emotional management is widely recognized as an essential
competency, although its application is influenced by institutional, communicational, and
structural factors. The study contributes to expanding discussions on socioemotional
competencies in the Executive Secretariat field, providing insights for training and improving
mediation practices in the area.

Abstract: Gender inequality in the corporate environment directly impacts the professional lives of
women, especially in Executive Secretariat, a historically female profession marked by
stereotypes that undermine its importance. Women’s attire, influenced by patriarchy and social
norms, often becomes a criterion for professional judgment, reinforcing inequalities and
limiting career progression. This study seeks to understand how gender stereotypes affect
women's dress codes in the workplace, analyzing their relationship with the construction of
identity and professional recognition. This is an applied research study, designed as a case
study, using semi-structured interviews to investigate the challenges faced by women in
corporate settings. The results indicate that, in both the public organization (with a lower level
of aesthetic expectations) and the private one, the interviewees reported that aesthetic
expectations or dress standards influence perceptions of professionalism, requiring greater
effort to be recognized for their technical competence. The findings contribute to the discussion
on gender equity and professional autonomy, highlighting the impact of dress codes on the
construction of women’s professional image and the acknowledgment of their competence in
the labor market.

Abstract: The predominance of women in Executive Secretarial work has historically shaped gender stereotypes that influence inequalities in women’s professional trajectories and create persistent barriers to recognition and professional valuation. Thus, this study aims to understand the perceptions of Executive Secretarial professionals regarding gender inequality in the labor market, grounded in Joan Acker’s theoretical framework. To this end, a qualitative approach was adopted, using a life-history research design. Semi-structured interviews were employed as the primary data collection technique, enabling the capture of participants’ experiences and interpretations concerning the influence of stereotypes and gender inequalities. The results indicate that, although academic training strengthens professional performance, Executive Secretarial work remains marked by stereotypes that associate the profession with care and support, limiting its strategic recognition. Subtle discriminatory practices, wage stagnation, and the invisibility of specialized work are evident, while initiatives of resistance and efforts toward professional valorization emerge, driven by the professionals themselves.
