Abstract: Petroleum plays a crucial role in both the global economy and the energy sector. However, many oil wells are in advanced stages of exploration, leading to a decline in production. Some older fields have naturally exhausted their production capacity, while others can no longer extract sufficient oil through secondary recovery methods. In this context, enhanced recovery methods are being considered. Among these methods, the use of microemulsions has gained significant attention in recent years. The primary role of microemulsions in improving oil recovery is to reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water and to alter the rock's wettability, with the aim of extracting a greater amount of residual oil from the reservoir. However, the stability of microemulsions poses a challenge, especially under extreme conditions of temperature and salinity. Recently, nanoparticles have emerged as promising stabilizers for microemulsions, offering advantages such as resistance to adverse conditions, improved mobility control, and reduced surfactant consumption. This makes nanoparticle-stabilized microemulsions an attractive option for enhancing oil recovery and an integral part of the evolution of nanotechnology in various technological applications. This article reviews the use of this technology as a promising approach to optimize oil recovery efficiency.

Abstract: The spill, in 2019, on the northeastern coast of Brazil, spread oil on several beaches, causing a great environmental impact. An environmentally friendly cleaning agent was formulated based on a microemulsion composed of pine oil as the oily phase, surfactant from coconut oil, isopropyl alcohol as a cosurfactant and distilled water as the aqueous phase. This study proposes the application and evaluation of a microemulsion formulation (Winsor IV) to treat sand from&#xD;
beach impacted with oil. A pseudoternary phase diagram, C/T ratio = 10, was used to define the microemulsion area, and some combinations were selected for beach sand remediation. The proposed cleaning agent showed 23.48% contaminant removal efficiency and has potential in sand cleaning.

Abstract: The present study aimed to evaluate the distribution and origin of 16 Priority PAHs in surficial sediment samples&#xD;
of Todos os Santos Bay (TSB, Brazil). Total PAHs concentrations ranged from below the method detection limit&#xD;
(&lt; DL) to 533 ng g−1 (dry weight). The toxic equivalent concentrations (TEQcarc) of PAHs in the studied area&#xD;
ranged from 0 to 104 ng g−1 and were lower when compared to other contaminated bays in the world.&#xD;
Diagnostic ratios indicated that pyrogenic processes, such as pyrolysis of fossil fuel, biomass, and coal, were the&#xD;
main PAHs sources for sediments. Proximity of the sources, the hydrodynamics and geochemistry of the sediments were the factor influencing the distribution of PAHs along the studied area.

Abstract: Este trabalho descreve a aplicação de um desenho experimental na otimização da decomposição e do espectrómetro condições operacionais para a análise dos alimentos para peixes. O teor de 22 elementos (seis macroelementos, quatro microelementos e onze elementos de traço) nos alimentos para peixes (ornamentais e para consumo humano) foi determinado por métodos indutivamente acoplado ao plasma (ICP). Foram obtidos limites de quantificação e valores variaram entre 0,02 mg kg−1 (Cd) e 76 mg kg−1 (Al). A avaliação dos métodos foi conseguida através de análise de material de referência padrão, tecido ostra (NIST 1566b) e Chá (NCS DC 73351).  As concentrações de elementos em amostras de alimentos para peixes ornamentais variaram entre &lt; 0,02 mg kg−1 (Cd) e 2,79% (P) e para os peixes reprodução para consumo humano de &lt; 0,02 mg kg−1 (Cd) a 2,00% (Ca). As concentrações dos elementos obtidos nos alimentos para peixes analisados estavam dentro dos limites estabelecidos pela legislação brasileira e americana para elementos regulados.
