Abstract: Wind is one of the renewable energy sources that has expanded its use for electricity generation in the world in recent years, especially in Brazil. Wind Energy has been working to expand and diversify the Brazilian Electricity Matrix, helping to preserve its energy security and renewable predominance. The Northeast Region has excellent potential in terms of wind energy, and the State of Bahia stands out for having wind potential between 70.0 GW at 100.0 m in height and 195.0 GW at 150.0 m in height. , at winds of 7.0 m/s. Electricity generation in Bahia from 2013 to the present still comes mostly from the plants of Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco (CHESF), but this scenario is already changing due to the insertion of wind energy. With this in mind, this article evaluates and projects electricity supply/demand scenarios for 2050 in Bahia and Brazil, focusing on the growth potential of concentrated wind power generation in Bahia.

Abstract: Four years after the Paris Agreement on climate change, the Brazilian Government are still struggling with the first draft of the National Strategy for the Implementation and Financing of Brazil's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). Based on simulations demonstrating Brazil's ability to generate 100% of its electricity from renewable sources, the present study aims to analyze the status of Brazil’s NDCs and establish a link with ongoing process reform of the electric legal framework. In the results, this study shows that the Brazilian electricity sector is not contributing to the achievement of the Paris targets, rather it has become more carbon intensive and an increase in greenhouse gas emissions is predicted for the next few decades. In favor a new paradigm for the sector is presented here, based on eco-efficiency, resilience, effective equality and sustainable socio-environmental development, with special attention to the Paris targets and Agenda 2030.

Abstract: Wind and solar energy have stood out in recent years because of the growth of global installed capacity. This work aims to present wind and solar photovoltaic energy development and its regulatory framework in Brazil, and demonstrate the potential for centralized hybrid generation. Official studies, research reports, and thematic maps were consulted, and two pilot hybrid plants were studied. Results indicate that there is great potential for centralized hybrid generation in the Brazilian Northeast region. However, there is a need for the regulatory framework to evolve to enable its development.

Abstract: This work presents a new multi-criteria model proposal to support decision-making, called EPIT (equation process with indicators and tables). This method uses indicators pre-defined by decision makers and auxiliary tables to build a model equation capable of calculating global feasibility indexes – Igv(%) for enterprises. The PEIT method was tested in two case studies of hybrid wind-solar power plants already implemented in Brazil. The results obtained were consistent, met expectations and the PEIT can be an innovative and simple tool for multi-criteria decision-making.
