Da Baía à Orla. Trajetórias habitacionais em preto e branco: cidade, casa e família numa análise etnográfica da mobilidade residencial de duas redes em Salvador-BA

Abstract

From the analysis of the residential trajectory of a family network and a network of friends, in which the first is mostly black and the second is mostly white, let us understand, based on their housing choices while residing in the city of Salvador, the flows, the meanings of residential mobility beyond the construction of spatial differentiation, as well as the search for dignity and status over time and contemporaneity. The production and consolidation of three large areas of status that are distinct from each other: the aporotopia, place of subordination, of the blacks and the poor, identified by self-construction; protopia, the place of relative improvement, intermediate, and architopia, the place of the dominant portion, mostly rich and white, identified by the massive presence of investments and formal urbanization, guide these families' search for housing while building their personal and collective status without ceasing to nurture their networks of consanguineous and local relationships making and remaking ties immersed in circuits of networks of neighboring houses and family members in their new and old neighborhoods of the city. This thesis demonstrates how aspects of the global scale dimension, such as public policies, urban imaginary, and social segregation, are linked to human scale interests and needs, having as a mediating element the urban materiality whose enabler is the acquisition of one's own home.
